Got a new 3G iPhone or just reboot? Insert the SIM card and does not work and says SIM blocked? Here is a step by step to activate it.
If you happen to have the iPhone 3G and the SIM card is not going to work, so it can not be activated. The iPhone 3G is not your regular telephone where you can switch the SIM card and is ready to go. Remember that your iPod and phone in one.
Let us first set up your SIM card into your iPhone 3G. You just have to use the small metal rod is provided by Apple and use it to push the small hole at the top of the iPhone 3G to detect SIM card.
Place the SIM card into the slot and push to the iPhone 3G. Once you do turn on the iPhone by pressing the button next to the SIM card slot. (Sometimes it starts automatically)
Now if you can not insert a SIM card or incorrectly placed, you end up with a screen like this.
Notice how the iPhone 3G SIM locked and says it must insert a key and valid SIM to activate iPhone? That's the kind of misleading, because if you put in a bad SIM card and, one might think that something is wrong with your iPhone is not unlocked for the SIM.

Activate the Iphone 3G
Once you've done the preliminaries above, it is now time to activate your iPhone.
Connect your iPhone 3G to your computer via the supplied USB cable. Once connected to your PC, you may notice the iPhone plugged in and iTunes starts automatically.
When iTunes starts, it detects operator settings on the iPhone 3G and faster to download the latest.
Just click on "Download and update."The process of updating the configuration of your media is fast, so that once completed, click "OK."

Just type the name you want for your iPhone 3G. I put in the name of Sam (It's the iPhone I use anyway)
When finished, simply click "Done."If your iPhone 3G is new, I'm sure you need a software update. If so, you are presented with the following screen. Just click on "Update."
Just be prepared to wait until the download is about 200-250MB. Once the download is complete, it will automatically update your iPhone 3G to the latest version of the software. Remember to disconnect the 3G iPhone when you upgrade.That's it! We did more than turn the iPhone 3G.
